Congratulations Max!

Max Charbonneau, Ottawa GeeGees linebacker, recently signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers!

After Max’s high school football career, he was selected to play for the University of Ottawa where he played for five years.

In 2022, Max torn his ACL, an important ligament in the knee. While surgery is a common recommendation for tears like these, Max chose to conservatively manage his injury and ultimately avoid surgery by working with Dr. Jon Steen.

“Together, we focused on building strength around the knee, altering load distribution, and enhancing overall functionality. Enduring the tough times of a serious injury, Dr. Steen became a cornerstone in my recovery, providing unwavering support both mentally and physically.”

Returning for Max’s final season of eligibility in U Sports, he achieved remarkable milestones. He was named the national leader in tackles which earned him OUA first team all-star recognition, the All-Canadian honors, and the Presidents Trophy for the OUA's best defensive player.

“Thanks to his guidance, I not only shed the ACL brace, but participated in a full national CFL combine without restrictions. Even during a full training camp, utilizing the techniques taught by Dr. Steen, I performed without hindrance on the previously injured knee.”

Max’s success continued from a regional combine invitation to an invitation to the national event, and further to being drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“Dr. Steen's sessions were transformative, teaching me more than I could have ever hoped for. I am forever grateful for his invaluable contribution to my journey.”

We’re cheering you on Max!
